Au Revoir 2015

What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?

I'm pretty sure I did loads of things that I'd never done before but like always, I've forgotten more than half by now. One thing I do remember is summer. After the school year ended I stayed in my apartment and worked like any responsible adult would. It was fun. The late LA nights with friends were always a plus.

Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

This year I actually stayed away from resolutions, only because I figured I would forgot them the second day of the year anyway. I'm doing something different this year and actually making a couple of resolutions. The first and most important is living a little bit more beautifully

Did anyone close to you give birth?

No new babies were born in my family this year (sad face) but I know hundreds and hundreds were born elsewhere, so if anyone close to you gave birth, I hope the little bundle(s) of joy has brought much happiness.

What countries did you visit?

(cries while writing this) I did not visit any other countries but I hope this is something I'm able to answer more enthusiastically very soon.

What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?

Consistency. As a person, I am a mess. I love organization but lack stability. I'd like to play with both this year.

What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

March 25th. As I was scrolling down my Facebook news feed and crossing the street light with my sister who was visiting me for the week, I stumbled upon a One Direction status that had been posted minutes before. In that moment my world crumbled as my eyes read, "After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction."

To be fair, as a huge One Direction fan whose favorite member was Zayn, there was nothing more I wanted to do than lay in the middle of that cross walk and die. I'm being dramatic but there really is no other way to explain it.

Read my post about the importance of leaving, just like Zayn, here

What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I've been in university now for four years and that in itself is one of the biggest achievements I have accomplished in my life but this year was also the year I had some insight as to what I want to do after school. With me being so indecisive, that is always subject to change and very much welcome to but it was nice knowing and being able to actually do and practice in the field I hope to enter when I am done with my undergrad. I also did really well in school and, well.. I can proudly say I was very proud of myself.

What was your biggest failure?

I invested so much time in comparing myself to others. I should've used that time to better myself for me and not to prove myself to others. I didn't have to prove myself to anyone but myself. Surround yourself around people who support what you do and not people who make you question if what you do is good enough. I know that now.

Did you suffer illness or injury?

Definitely felt like dying a couple of times but only because of minor fevers, headaches, throat pains, March 25th etc. I'm alive!

What was the best thing you bought?

My beautiful laptop that I bought because my sister 'accidentally' stepped on my old one. Also, all the concert tickets I purchased. So in love with concerts and the atmosphere.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My friends and loved ones, and you.

Whose behaviour made you appalled?

People who were not kind with a motive. We all go through bad phases but please don't be mean purposively.

Where did most of your money go?

Concert tickets, food, makeup, and summer nights.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?

My love for One Direction and not caring about who noticed.

What song will always remind you of 2015?

I sound like a broken record player and of course I can't just choose one so.. One Direction's FOUR album. I remember being so excited to hear the boys sing the songs live for the first time.

Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?

Happier. A little bit fuller. Blessed regardless.

What do you wish you’d done more of?

What do you wish you’d done less of?

Did you fall in love in 2015?

I did. I fell in love people, places, and things.

What was your favourite TV program?

The Mindy Project. Modern Family. Greys Anatomy. Scandal. How To Get Away With Murder. A bunch of Netflix.

What was the best book you read?

Why Not Me? - Mindy Kaling
Modern Romance - Aziz Ansari
Girl Boss - Sophia Amoruso
Yes Please - Amy Poehler

What was your greatest musical discovery?

You can check it out all on my Spotify here.
On this site I have a section I dedicated to music called Listen Beautifully. I'm always open to new music and artists. Tweet me your favorites!

I was also madly and deeply in love with George Ezra. I saw him live in Los Angeles this August. I never wanted the night to end. I also wrote a little about him here

What was your favourite film of this year?

I cried like a little baby watching Inside Out. I also really enjoyed The Age of Adeline (also cried) (no surprise).

What kept you sane?

I'm kidding. Family and friends. I also became a big fan of #temporary. Knowing that everything is temporary, whether it be a person or a feeling. In other words, everything will be okay because it will. It always is.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"Lets have another toast to the girl almighty."

In all honesty, this year had its ups and its downs. I grew as a person: mentally, physically, and emotionally. I turned 21. I saw my favorite band. I lived and I loved and I'm ready to love some more. I also want to take this time and thank you for reading. I've found that maintaining a blog is hard, especially when you have one hundred other things to do but dearanaaa is something I feel very passionate about and I hope to make this site grow as I grow in 2016. I hope you tag along.

From me to you, have a lovely (and safe) new year, friend.
