I’ve done it again. I’ve completely fallen in love. This time it’s because of Gavin James and his music. As you may know, I’m an avid Spotify user. I’m quite obsessed actually. I came across Gavin while I listened to some playlists, which quickly followed by me listening to some of his music and well… now I’m fixated.
Gavin, 24, who is originally from Ireland, began his singing career in 2012 when he released his first EP titled Say Hello. That same year Gavin received the Song of The Year award from Meteor Choice for his title track, Say Hello. Two years later, he signed as an artist under Capitol Records, released another EP, and opened up for artists like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran while also headlining his own shows.
It was not until this year that we were treated to a full studio – debut album titled Bitter Pill (#finally).
The album included songs from Gavin’s Say Hello and For You EPs. Bitter Pill contained 13 beautiful songs that I loved and that I cannot stop listening to.
Four Favourite Songs:
1. Remember Me
Remember Me was instantly my favorite song off the Bitter Pill album.
“It’s not where you go, it’s just where you’re going and who’s the company.”
Though I’m certain the song is about a significant other, I couldn’t help but think about my close friends when I heard the lyrics above. The great thing about music is that we each interpret it differently. Remember Me is 4 minutes of beautiful melodies that you need to listen to right now.
2. Coming Home
The ending of Coming Home is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.
“I’ve been running for way too long. I’ve been running but I’ll be coming home.”
Home isn’t home without the people you love and distance definitely makes the heart grow fonder. No matter how far you run, nothing beats being home with the people you love and you sense this in Coming Home.
3. For You
I want to fall in love with someone who doesn’t love me back so I can sing them this song.
This song is so beautiful.
“Cause every time I saw you I got nervous. Shivering and shaking at the knees.”
Honestly, is this not me at every One Direction concert? Joking aside, this song is a journey about loving someone who you didn’t want to let go but eventually did and moving along.
“Maybe we will meet when we get older. Maybe we wont. So I won’t say I love you if you don’t.”
Gavin James is a beautiful artist and I am so happy I came across him and his music. He is only just getting started and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him (and me because I get to listen to everything he creates and releases).
